Thanks for the heads up!

Michelle, you are welcome. Glad I have an outlet like this to get the message out.

Great tip! I love RSS!

Thanks so much! My Visa card has been "compromised" and I am just starting to deal with the fraud/disputing process - I was hoping for something good on my personal credit front, and up popped your e-mail. My score is 719, which is also good news for me. Love your posts on CB and your blog.

Anon, glad to hear that you are over 700. Next stop 760!

Glad you're enjoying the blog. Wouldn't be a blog without you guys (well, it wouldn't be a highly-read blog without you guys).

Thanks.

Awesome! Well, actually no it wasn't but hey! at least I know. But WOW! That was bad!

You rock! 794--the 6 away from 800 is probably my PenFed inq, but it was worth it :). I never would have gotten to this on time had it not been for the email about your post. Thanks!

DM, nice score. Glad you got the email alert.

I figure I saved everyone $12 and change.

Thanks!!

Welcome, Nikky.

760, not too shabby, considering I have two very recent INQs from opening CU accounts.

Thanks for sharing the link Marcus!

Credit Matters said...

Jim, no prob on the link. Nice score. Anything at 760 and above is golden.

Credit Matters said...

My wife was just saying that I should go to Las Vegas with my credit score. Lucky 7s. Pfft. I don't gamble.

Jim in the City of New York said...

If you've lived/worked in New York City and commute on the 7 train daily, you'd know that the number 7 is not exactly lucky either! ;-)

Credit Matters said...

Jim, in all of my years, I only took the subway twice while in the city. I cabbed everywhere. I took the subway at Wall Street (across from Trinity church). That's the extend of my subway action.

Far Left Texas said...

Thanks for the heads up Marcus. I was just getting ready to buy a score for Mrs. Left Texas in the next week or so.

Credit Matters said...

Glad I could be of service, FLT.

Far Left Texas said...

LOL - I just looked at mine again. It seems I get graded "Not Good" in the "Amount of New Credit" category. 2 of my most recent 5 trade lines aren't even showing!

It's nice to have a free benchmark to start the fourth quarter of 2008 with.

Credit Matters said...

FLT, it will only get worse when those other three report. LOL. But that's OK. I'd rather have the new tradelines.

Is your FICO sitting in the garage or is it on the open road?? Mine has been on the open road for most of the past three years, baby.

Far Left Texas said...

I just went back and dug up a 2004 FICO. The number started with a "5".

So mine's been in the garage until just the past few weeks. I should probably put it back in the garage for a few months.

Oh - and the other two are a Signature Visa and a Discover biz, so they won't report.

Credit Matters said...

Well, the two signature cards WILL report. You just won't be helped in the utilization department.

The Discover biz card will NOT report.

Credit Matters said...

And the two signature cards will drag your average age down.

Josh said...

Thanks so much for this post. I guess I got a little too excited though because a second after I ordered it came back with error code:

Eval Code:- Status Code: FL, Reason Code: QF

which in human terms means I don't have 6 months trade line history yet ;)

Great scores everyone.

CM, you think you will hit 800? Is it just a matter of more age?

J

Credit Matters said...

Josh, I think so. It's my average age that is dragging me down. That's my negative factor. But I don't see 800 happening any time soon. Maybe a year. Two years at most.

aceken said...

$ 7-7-7 $ cha-ching ! you win CM ! haha.. thanks for the info. wish the credit bureaus can have this promotion once every 3 months :)

Credit Matters said...

Ace, every quarter would be sweet!

Call me lucky 7s, baby.

Bob Wang said...

I know a way you could boost your average age a little.

Credit Matters said...

Haha. Thanks, B.

By the way, some idiot just posted a comment on another story. Said that I was an ego maniac. Haha.

I suspect this is the same guy who said that I was a blowhard.

Gotta love my readers.

Bob Wang said...

I think he mistook you for me ;-)

Credit Matters said...

Not sure. I logged his IP address. If he keeps it up I'll just ban him from the site. Don't need the nonsense.

The Lion said...

Why they got to hate on you, CM?

Credit Matters said...

I imagine that he was not held as a baby.

The Lion said...

That'll do it, CM.

Credit Matters said...

So sad.

The Lion said...

My, aren't you up late?

Midnite said...

9 points away from 700! Thanks CM! Your great advice as well as all the great people on CB has got me back on the right track.

No One Special said...

Dude, thanks so much. It is 7:54 AM on Thursday, and I still got a free credit score (thought the 10,000 people would have come already). I was also afraid this was some kind of fraud/trap/trick/SCAM. Anyway, I got my score...804 as of October 2, 2008.

Thanks for the free credit score. I have been a lurker for the past 2 weeks (very new to your blog). I had to post today!!!

Credit Matters said...

Lion, I went to bed right after my last post. Haha.

Credit Matters said...

Midnite, glad it's working out, pal. Keep up the great work.

Credit Matters said...

NOS (No One Special), glad that you posted.

And great score.

Glad to have you on board.

Credit Matters said...

Oh, and as soon as I hear that the 10,000 has been reached, I will update this entry.

Credit Matters said...

The maximum was reached right around 10:30 AM eastern.

Thanks for playing, guys/gals.

That was fun.
